Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Arrives, Introducing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Iconic Releases
Similar to the games from the Wii period that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. In addition to the movie, 2026 promises to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
The company has a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for the upcoming year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
